The stock rubber brake hoses have the possibility to absorb moisture and contaminate the brake fluid, contaminated brake fluid can be harmful to the rubber brake hoses' inner surface, and affect the braking performance. That's why the steel braided brake hoses come into the picture.

The factory stock breke hose for the rear of Mazda Lantis is made with rubber. The average life of the rubber brake hoses is 5-6 years, so it is better to check the condition of the rubber brake hose after a while, look for symptom such as swelling, cracks, chafing etc., before it is too late.
A layer of stainless steel woven material surrounding the Teflon core is preventing the brake hose from expanding under hot and boiling conditions. Hence, providing faster and more consistent braking response under all conditions especially under the overheating brake fluid conditions.
